MULTI CHAMPION
MUCHO BRAVO WILD WILLY

October 17, 1994 ************ January 3, 2007

Our Willy was and is one of the most famous Havanese worldwide, and he has been one of the great contributers to the breed.
read the condolences we got from all over the world

It's not because he was famous, nor because he meant so much to the breed, nor because he won so much and earned so many titles that made him so special to us. Of course we are proud of him, but most of all it was just a great pleasure and joy to have him around each and every day.
He had everything we could wish for in a dog and more.
Willy represented everything we strive for in our breeding program.
He was not only very handsome, he was a fantastic and extraordinary dog all around, the "love of our life".

Actually we knew it from the start.....Willy was going to stay with us !
It was love at first sight

Willy with his brother "Bopper"

We noticed his exceptionally sweet temperament and personality.
These were the deciding factors in keeping him for ourselves.

We had no idea yet that he would grow to be such a beauty.

Willy had a super personality; he was always happy and cheerful, kind towards everybody, a real "huggy-bear". He was gentle and always thoughtful, and had an incredible sense of humor. We know it's hard to believe, but in all those years we never had to scold him, not once. He just never did something wrong. Of course we love all our dogs, but Willy was the most precious and special to us.
He was a "once in a life time dog". We know there will never be another like him, and we have enjoyed each and every day with him.
He was not only beautiful, but also só sweet, só loyal, só faithful, só cheerful, só firm, só self-confident, só tolerant, só brave. He trusted us completely. All these fine character qualities make his loss to us even more difficult to bare.

10 months old

He had the most beautiful eyes, in which you couldn't do anything else but melt away. His eyes were his salient feature. He could communicate with them. With his expressive eyes, Willy could tell us exactly what he wanted or how he felt.
When he was gaiting effortlessly, his beautiful coat flowing, holding his head proudly, his tail always wagging, you couldn't help yourself and just had to look and admire his elegance, joy and pride.
December 1995
Willy was the best and biggest huggy-bear!

He was faithful and devoted. He was always nearby, without being pushy in any way. While working in the yard, he was around. Even if it took a long time and all the other Havanese had gone inside the house to take a nap or something, Willy remained. While working or sitting at the computer, Willy was lying at your feet.
In the forest he never wandered far away. Of course he wanted to sniff everywhere too and let everybody know that "Wild Willy was here", but he always made sure he wasn't far behind.
If sometimes he wasn't nearby, calling his name would do, and he was right there right away.
He liked playing together. Fetch and carry has been his favorite game for years. Lately, when he wouldn't play that game anymore, he himself changed the game. We threw something not very far, he brought it back to us, but he didn't give it anymore but put it in front of him, looking like "try to grab it if you can"". Of course he tried to grab it before we could, but he never ran away with it. Boy, he thought that was a most exciting game.
Willy was very tolerant towards other dogs. Strange dogs, males and females, always were treated and approached very kindly and gently, whether it was outside, at the shows or here at home. He never saw them as intruders in "his home" or "his pack". Of course he liked the girls the most. It was with great pleasure he contributed to the breed. He wanted the girls to like him though. If there was one that growled at him, he didn't push. He looked at René then, then to the girl, as if he wanted to say : "you got to help me out here". He knew René would hold her head so she couldn't bite him, and then he would happily service the ladies without getting scratched or bitten! LOL! The results always were very pretty offspring, who inherited many of his other great qualities too.

Willy's very first girlfriend "Bundy"

March 2006

A little over a year ago Willy was diagnosed with a leaking left valve in his heart. "Old age" according our vet and the cardiologist who was treating Willy. At first it wasn't bad at all, and not something to really worry about. Things deteriorated very quickly though. When checked again it appeared that a string in the valve was ripped of and the leaking had become much worse. Willy got additional medication immediately. It was very hard though to balance the medicines for his heart and to save his kidneys at the same time. The required diuretics he needed were very hard on his kidneys.

September 24, 2006
he found an apple of our appletree in our yard
The last months were like being on an emotional rollercoaster where we couldn't get off. We still had great times, where we could enjoy Willy tremendously and Willy himself enjoyed life very much also. Then we had lows, with lots of stress, fear and doubts. We carefully kept watching over Willy's quality of life, and as long he had far more good days than bad ones we tried everything possible to keep it that way. Willy always has had lots of privileges, and got even more each day. He never took advantage of that. We knew though he felt even more special because of them. Even the other Havanese didn't have a problem with it. The special place and respect he has always received from them also, stayed the same until the very end.

September 2006
We never left him alone anymore for a long period of time, because we were afraid something would happen and we weren't there to help and support him if he needed that. Of course one of his newly acquired privileges was being allowed to sleep with us on the bed. He loved that!

Willy "on the wild side", March 2006
In fact, he was doing rather well lately. Until René took Pidoe with him to a show. Pidoe was affected by kennelcough there, Willy's immunesystem wasn't strong anough to fight that. In spite of the antibiotics his bronchial infection degenerated into pneumonia, which proved quickly fatal.
After a few difficult hours on his last night, shortly before he left us, he was looking for our support and wanted to be held. He died peacefully without suffering in the arms of René.
We wanted to keep Willy close to us.
So we buried him in our yard, together with our Golden Retriever Queenie, who always had been his great pal.

On October 17, 2006 we were so happy to celebrate his 12th birthday. We were hoping he could reach his 13th as well. Unfortunately and sadly it was not meant to be.

These pictures are taken on his 12th birthday.
People from all over the world congratulated him and us,
and wrote wonderful things about Willy

When the weather was nice enough Willy and his mother Usa still went for a walk in the forest. They enjoyed all the smells, and took their time to sniff around.

These pictures are also taken on his 12th birthday.

Willy, 9 years old
He was still fit as a fiddle then, and as handsome as ever!

Willy had a great show career, which we've enjoyed very much too. He loved to come with us to the shows. He enjoyed all the attention, outside and in the ring. Happy and proud, as if he knew how beautiful he was, he almost danced through the ring, drawing everyone's admiration.

Willy got that many many times, and it was a piece of cake for him to achieve
